Introduction To Website Designing :
Having a website is the latest way of sharing information, selling information or products and keeping touch with the rest of the cyber world. However, for most people who do not know anything about website designing can end feeling confused and disoriented. It is important to know the basics before putting a website together and to keep the website relevant and accessible to others.
KISS
This is the ardent rule of website making and designing. You have to keep your website simple; that is Keep It Simple Stupid. This does not mean your website has to be dull and boring. On the contrary. Do not clutter your website with too many visuals and text. If a website visitor cannot find what he is looking for, there is no way he will stay on your site or return. A visitor usually wants to find the information or product he is looking for immediately and if he does not find it or has to navigate through many unnecessary pages to get to that information or product, you have just lost a potential customer.
Keep It Relevant
Make sure your website is relevant to a niche topic. Many a times it is seen that a website on one particular topic has many pages devoted to unrelated topics. If a website visitor is looking for information on credit cards and he has to go through information on investing before reaching the information he really wants, there is no way he is going to hang around to get to that information. He will just leave your website and look for another website that will give him the information he is seeking.
Keep It Accessible
When we talk about accessibility we are in fact talking about making the browsing experience simple. This ultimately ties back to KISS. Your navigational page should be easy. A website visitor should not have to wade through pages to get to the information or product he is looking for. It is usually advisable to have a search option on your website so that the visitor can easily locate the information on the site by using this facility. |
